To Find Site:- The most direct route to this site is via the Romantische Strasse either from Rothenburg or Bad Mergentheim. However coming from the south the road is narrow in places so some suggest exiting the A7 at junction 105 and heading to Uffenheim and then following the road to Bad Mergentheim, on reaching the Romantische Strasse, turn left, in Creglingen watch out for campsite sign at right turn and then following campsite signs to Münster. Alternatively leave A81 at junction5 heading for Bad Mergentheim. After about 5 miles turn right for Bad Mergentheim. (using this route avoids a lot of small towns and villages) From Bad Mergentheim follow signs for Rothenburg to Creglingen, then as above.

This is a delightful campsite only a couple of miles off the 'Romantische Strasse'. The people that run the site are both helpful and friendly. The main touring pitches are set out in three areas. The first is immediately behind the new Reception building. These are open without shade but have a nice view of the village. The second area is much more wooded with pitches set out amongst the mature trees. There is a smaller more open section on the other side of the stream that dissects the main area. Whilst some pitches are on grass most have a gravel base which the grass grows through. They are all of a good size. There are some permanent caravans but these are mainly set out in their own areas on the higher terraces. Water, drainage and electrics are available to each pitch. The site has three toilet blocks, the newest is under the Reception, there is another near the restaurant and a third at the far end of the site. All are of a good quality and kept clean, access is by key for which you pay a €10 returnable deposit. At Reception you can order bread rolls and it also sells a few basic foodstuffs, including beer and wine. Reception also has internet access and well as information about the local area. The restaurant is rather good and they do have an English version of the menu which you can ask for. There is a small indoor swimming pool. The site is closed to vehicles between 1.00 and 3.00pm, however there is a large car park opposite the campsite entrance where you can leave your car during this time. Camping Romantische Strasse accepts Camping Cheques in the low season. Date of visit, early September 2005.

Creglingen is only a couple of miles away and whilst quite pretty is not as spectacular as towns like Rothenburg. It does have a couple of supermarkets and fuel stations. Between the campsite and Creglingen is the Thimble Museum which is quite interesting and the entrance fee is only €1.50. If you walk out of the top end of the site there is a lake which is used for swimming.  The main advantage of this campsite is that it is very near to the Romantische Strasse and you don't have to travel far to discover some of the fascinating towns at the northern end of this 200 mile long road.
