To Find Site:- Leave A19 0nto A194 to South Shields. Continue to A183 and at roundabout by the South Tyneside Council building go across into Beach Road. Take fourth right into Bents Park Road, the site is on the left in a few hundred metres.

Sandhaven as a touring site is probably a bit unusual in that it is in a predominately a nicely done static caravan site with a small touring section. The site is situated in an urban environment although only on one side the other three sides include two parks and the promenade. The touring section is near the entrance to the site and consists of about 20 pitches. They have a concrete section for the caravan/motorhome with a gravel section alongside for either sitting out or an awning. In front of the pitches is a paved are to park your car, all very nicely done.  The pitches are serviced with shared water and drain between two pitches. Electric points are rated at 16 amps and accept CEE17 blue connectors. Next to Reception is the toilet bock of a good standard which includes a laundry and the chemical emptying point is at one end of the block. The site stipulate that only green toilet chemicals are used. There is no specific motorhome waste point as all pitches are serviced. The site does not accept tents. The site appears to have a WiFi service but as the 4G signal was pretty good I didn’t investigate how to get connected to the site.

There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities but there is no direct access to the seashore from the site, you have to exit the site and take a right into Betts Park. It’s a reasonably easy level walk to the sea front via the Park. The centre of South Shields is just over a mile away, unfortunately a bit run done. There is a bus stop opposite the site and the number 11 bus, half hourly service, takes you to the South Shields Transport Interchange where there are either more bus services or you can join the Metro to all parts of Newcastle. On the way back to the site you need service 10. For shopping there is both an ASDA and a Morrisons near the centre of South Shields. For a convenience store there is a Tesco Express a short walk from the site and if you fancy a coffee there is a nice café called Mac’n’Alli a few doors away.
