To Find Site:- from Kettering take A43 towards Stamford. After junction with A427 continue towards Stamford on A43, about seven and a half miles turn right signed for Fineshade, Top Lodge. The final approach to the site is a single track road but there are plenty of passing places. Site is immediately past entrance to Forestry Commission Car Park.

This site has 83 pitches of which 31 are gravel chip hardstandings, they are set out around a double loop circular site road. The site is situated right in the middle of Forestry Commission land so it is surrounded by mature trees. It is important to remember that this site has no toilet or shower facilities and campers have to use their own facilities. There are two service points supplying water and waste disposal. Reception sells a few essentials. The site is open to non members for an additional fee but does not accept tents. Television and mobile reception is patchy. We found this a relaxing site and ideal for a peaceful weekend or longer stay.

Next to the site is a Forestry Commission Information Centre which includes a cafe and toilets. Many woodland walks radiate from the Centre. For shopping Stamford, about 8 miles away, is likely the best bet. Rutland Water is not far away.
